Anastacia Lyn Newkirk,
so her real name, was born on September 17th, 1968 in Chicago. The second child of Diane Hurley, a retired theater actress and the singer Robert Newkirk, grew up with the mother in Chicago after her parents had parted when she was 5. At the age of 13, Anastacia was diagnosed by "Crohn's disease". A chronic inflammation of the stomach intestines section diagnoses. An operation left a 18 cm long scar. "The scar is a part of me. But it was rather tragic for me with thirteen", Anastacia said.

Anastacia had a job in restaurants and barber shops and tried to come into the music business after the degree at the "Professional Children`s School, New York City. Spurred on by the background of her parents she begins already to be interested in dancing professionally and gets dedicated for various music videos as dancer quite early. So for example for Salt'n Peppers "Everybody Get Up" and "Twist and Shout".

1998 Anastacia was discovered by a MTV-casting show called "The Cut". She didn't win the competition, however, after the appearance the record firms stood in line, Sony Music finally got the surcharge. Her first album "Not That Kind" which achieved platinum statuses in Europe followed. The album "Freak of Nature" followed a year later. "I am not a tall star in America yet but I go round again now!"

Breast cancer is diagnosed 2003 the great shock, at Anastacia.

"It was a long, dark night and I have waited for the morning . It has been a long, hard fight but I see that a new day breaks . I have looked for sunshine because, I haven't seen him for so long. But everything has opposed to the good one, everything is ok again".

Due to a constant backache Anastacia was tired of her basket size DD given by nature. She made up her mind for a chest reduction. To be able to exclude complications, her doctor ordered a mammography. "Doesn't this concern rather older women?" Anastacia asks. The doctor said it was routine. She responded to it: "I coolly then make it." The mammography showed little spots in her left chest, a reference to cancer. "I have saved my life only because I wanted to have my chest reduced. Till now we didn't have any cancer case in our family, I didn't feel any knots in my chest. I wouldn't have this state myself."

Anastacia learned at the body of her own that the word cancer is something terrible. The spots which Dr. Swistel had discovered in her chest first seemed as if somebody had sprinkled salt on the radiograph. Such spots are usually harmless but they are a symptom for an early stage of cancer in 10% of the cases. To go for certain, she underwent a biopsy in January 2003. On the following day Anastacia's mother Diane went to the telephone. "The doctor said Anastacia will have a long life, therefore my Mom thought this is a piece of excellent news. But then, he wanted to talk with me and his first words were: the cell tests which we have taken from your chest are malicious. You have cancer. He said, we would have caught the cancer very early and that I really would have been lucky. I couldn't believe it, had I understood this really correctly? And I started to cry, the tears fell on the telephone."

Despite the diagnosis cancer Anastacia threw herself into the work with full energy. For three days according to the terrible news she turned off the video to "Love Is A Crime" from the soundtrack to "Chicago". "I had to ignore the diagnosis cancer", she said. She did her last one for this video, being under influence of the painkillers still. She finally caved in. "I let my sadness's free run. But I took the fight against the cancer after a week."

The day of the operation finally came: February 10th, 2003. The operation proceeded without complications, the time was very bad after the operation for Anastacia although. She recovered at home after staying two days at hospital. "After the operation I spoke and went like Ozzy Osbourne. It was almost impossible for me to sit!" It was even worse than she saw her left chest the first time. "She looked like a dented fender." Disappointed of the bra which she had to carry after the operation, she decided to design her own one. To defeat the cancer, she underwent a six-week ray treatment therapy which had, however, an effect on her voice. "I have a firm voice and if it get lost by it only a bit I sound perhaps a bit happier, and except, which no longer so many mikes then go to break ", meant Anastacia smiling.

For already six weeks after the OP she appeared again and common to perform with Elton John on the Oscar party. "After the appearance people came toward me and told me how excellent it is to see me on the stage again. This meant very much for me."
The treatment had Anastacia documented by a camera team to do reconnaissance work. She finally reorganized Anastacia Fund to make the precautions examinations possible for young women just with that, "I am in the public and perhaps I had to go this way just therefore, I can pass my history on to other and if I can help only a bit I have fulfilled my mission so".

Our Ana is simply a strength package and this energy passes her on to her audience at every appearance, formal the whole room.

Anastacia thinks, "Paris is absolutely the most beautiful town in the whole world." She loves the French language and she could one day see herself living there.

Spectacles play a major role in Anastacia's life, it being her sort of trademark now. She used to say to her mother, "Can I have the ones with the windshield wipers on or the ones with the big jewels glittering on them."

Anastacia doesn't use particularly perfume. She prefers a combination out of flavor therapy oils.

She occasionally suffers from insomnia. Her sister Shawn is a massage therapist and nutrionist and often helps Anastacia with her sleep troubles.

Dolce and Gabbana are one of her favourite designers.

Anastacia loves Sushi, Asian and Mexican cooking. She likes modest courts and natural Doritos.

She likes to drink Sambucca and Baileys on ice, no common drink in Great Britain, "try and you will love it", so Anastacia "otherwise take a good red wine."

Her favourite film is "Pretty Woman".

Anastacia has at least three mobile telephones in her bag and uses hardly hotel telephones because they are too expensive. One mobile phone for the American numbers, and one for the European numbers.

Anastacia eats cookies like other people drink water. She says, "English cookies are the best!"

She loves bargains, it cannot always be from the designer.

Anastacia is a boot freak! She loves plateaux and carries them whenever and wherever she wants, like such as leather pants in summer.

Anastacia drinks tapwater despite the quality and taste in the USA (chlorine). She says, "It doesn't kill you, we aren't in Mexico anyway."

Anastacia loves hip trousers and stands on leather and varnish!
